What you're hearing there is Ford's latest effort to re-launch its flagging-premium Lincoln brand. The US car company has just embarked on a huge advertising campaign to breathe new life into the Lincoln. But can Ford convince people to buy one of its luxury cars given its own somewhat musty image? Our reporter in New York is Ben Thomson.
Yeah, it does really seem like a mass-market brand, doesn't it? And we've seen today, of course, that Ford's sales in November rose at 6% on the same period last year. So they are heading in the right direction. But the big challenge for Ford and the other big carmakers of course is how they can make more money from each of those customers. Well, one way that Ford says it can do that is to offer a premium brand that'll offer extra features and services and that sort of thing. But Ford's saying that premium doesn't necessarily mean it will come at a premium price. It will be more expensive but not necessarily the sort of expense which would associate with a luxury car. And now I spoke to Jim Farley. He's a vice president of Ford. And he told me that there's still a lot of demand from people who've been putting off buying a car in the last few years because of that recession.相信直觉,记住你来自何处,并将去向何方。
