And with Hitchcock, this didn't go over so well. The two of them would fight about script mostly, because David Selznick had great respect for the original material that he used. He demanded that the dialogue be from the book, that the settings should match the descriptions in the book. David insisted on lifting the book right into the film, and Hitchcock wanted to make the film regardless of the book.
