He died at the age of 75 in France after a sudden illness. Now it's been announced that his body will be exhumed on Tuesday in the presence of experts from France and several other countries. Tawfiq al-Tirawi is the head of the investigation committee.
"We as Palestinians are convinced Yasser Arafat was assassinated. We won't close this file. We'll investigate it until we find the killer."
Well, the most likely killer the Palestinians believe was the Israeli state. I've been getting the background toward this from our correspondent in Ramallah, Richard Galpin.
It's come to a head this year because there was a documentary by the Al-Jazeera TV Station in which this allegation was made that he was killed using the radioactive substance polonium-210. And that they had interviewed a number of doctors from a laboratory, having taken some of his clothing which were provided by Mr Arafat's wife. And that they say that these samples showed very high levels of polonium-210, the same substance which was used to kill Alexander Litvinenko in London in 2006, that former KGB officer.8年前，巴勒斯坦领导人亚西尔·阿拉法特在法国因突发疾病去世，享年75岁。现在，巴方宣称将于周二在法国和一些其他国家的专家面前挖出他的遗体。Tawfiq al-Tirawi是该调查委员会的负责人。
