You have to believe that you are on the right track to finding a solution
to your research problem.
Thomas Edison would never have persisted for so long in his light bulb research
if he wasn’t confident that he was on the right track.
On the other hand, you need to inject a healthy amount of doubt into your research.
Others have said that a certain method is the best way to solve some problem,
but they might be wrong. You need to be willing to learn from the work of others,
but you also need to take everything you read with a grain of salt.
