Striker Luis Suárez rescued a point for the home side after Yohan Cabaye had put Newcastle United ahead. Fabricio Coloccini was shown a red, straight red card for a foul on Suárez, but Newcastle held on for a point and watching at Anfield for the BBC was John Murray.
"Well the undoubted highlight was Luis Suárez's equalising goal which was excellent, Suárez chesting down Enrique's long pass and going past Coloccini and Krul almost in one movement then walking the ball into the net. The frustration for Liverpool is that they couldn't win the game, not enough end product was the problem and when there was, Shelvey and Sterling wasted the chances.
