The opening week's fixtures are underway and league organisers are hoping they continue as planned after confirming the game in Brooklyn between the Nets and New York Knicks scheduled for Thursday will take place. There's still doubt though over Friday's fixture at Manhattan's Madison Square Garden between the Knicks and Miami Heat. City's Mayor has said the New York Marathon though will go ahead on Sunday. Its organisers admitting the problem with the public transport could though mean participants struggling to make it to the start line.
Well back to the basketball and to make sure they didn't miss their trip to the Miami Heat; the Boston Celtics avoided the worst of the storm by leaving for Florida a day early. The game went the Heat's way as the champions began their defence with a 120-to-107 victory. Last season's Most Valuable Player Lebron James happy to get the season started.
