The slowdown is blamed partly on unusually warm weather, a prolonged drought that decimated farm inventories and sent corn and soybean prices to new highs.
But things are not as bad as they seem. Consumer spending outpaced growth in the second quarter - April through June. And despite high unemployment, economist Max Wolff at Greencrest Capital says companies are laying off fewer workers.
"The job situation here is lousy, but it's not terrible. So it's not worsening. We are seeing 100,000 - 150,000 new jobs a month. We do need 120,000 each month to keep pace with population growth."
The housing market is also seeing steady improvement. Even after a slight dip in August, home sales are up from last year and prices are rising.美国国内输出在第二季度减弱，在9个月中增长速度最慢。经济放缓部分归咎于异常温暖的天气，持久干旱使得农场库存大幅下降，同时将玉米和大豆价格推至新高。

房地产市场也在稳步提升。即使8月份经历了轻微下滑，房屋销售较去年仍有所增加，而且价格有上涨。
