例句-1: Sally's wedding reception was a real blow-out. More than three hundred guests, the best food and drink, a big orchestra for dancing, it must have cost her father much money.

我们还要学一个美国人说狂欢聚会的词：wing-ding。 Wing-ding和blow-out 一样也是复合词。它们之间也由连词符号连接。Wing-ding是指兴奋喧闹的聚会。这样的聚会当时令人乐得忘乎。所以，事后又使人回味无穷。Wing-ding这个词的出典已经难以查考，但是它用在日常会话中已经有七十五年以上的历史了。下面我们要听一个例子。说话的人在向朋友描述他公司举办的一次新年晚会。
例句-2: Our company made good money this year so our New Year's party was the best wing-ding. There was plenty to eat and drink and most of us stayed later than we ever had before.

例句-3: More than 100 people came to the bash we gave for Johnny when he left for the college in California. Johnny had such a good time that he almost missed his plane.
这段话说：有一百多人来参加了我们为Johnny举行的晚会，因为Johnny要去加州上大学了Johnny玩儿得可真痛快，他差点误了飞机。
从这个例子我们可以看出bash特指那种生动活泼、痛快欢乐的聚会，而且常常是青年人的聚会。

我们还要学一个也解释喧闹的宴会的词：Blast。成功的晚会往往会闹声喧天，会吵得邻居睡不着觉，甚至叫警察出面干涉制止吵声。很多人都知道blast这个词通常解释"爆炸"，或者突发的一阵大风，或者喇叭的闹声，也许这就是为什么blast特别用来指喧闹欢乐的聚会。
下面我们要听一个人回忆他去俱乐部参加的一次舞会。舞会上以最大的音量放摇滚乐唱片，直到清晨四点。好，我们一起来听一个参加者的感想，同时体会一下blast是甚么样的聚会活动。
例句-4: Sure, I'm tired but it was worth it, a fantastic blast, at least until the police came and made us turn down the music because people could hear us two blocks away.
