These findings come in the first-ever World Happiness Report, commissioned by the United Nations, and Professor John Helliwell is one of the authors.
"In order to do development intelligently, you have to have some notion of what life is about. In the past people have treated economic variables, because they were measured and relatively easily available, as though they were in fact the goal of development.
