Naturally that puts a particular pressure on building in construction firms. A company in the city of Changsha in Hunan Province has come up with a solution: work faster. And they've now put up a 30-storey hotel building which they say was entirely constructed and ready to use in just two weeks. Well I've been speaking to the Beijing-based architect Brown Sean Lee, and I asked him if a building put together at such speed could be safe.
"I cannot be very certain, but I truly doubt a building of this size assembled in such a short time to be 100% safe."
"That's quite worrying coming from an architect like yourself based in Beijing, because this company say, they'll get to build even bigger and even faster and presumably they aren't the only ones."
"Well I have all my due respect to my colleagues. But in such a quick assemblance and such few on inspections and tests, I don't think it's going to be 100% safe."我们都听说过中国城市化的发展进程非常地快，自然地给建筑公司建造楼房带来了很大的压力。湖南长沙一间建筑公司相出了一个解决的方法，就是加快工程进度。现在他们在建造一栋30层的宾馆，据说已经完全建好了，两个星期内能够交楼使用。我采访了扎根在北京的建筑师李肖恩，我问他如果一栋楼以如此快的速度建好是否能安全使用。
“我不能够肯定，但我非常地怀疑在这么短时间内建造好一栋这么大的楼，是否能百分之百安全。”
“（这建筑公司的做法）会让像你们这些驻北京的建筑师非常担心，因为这公司声称他们将会在更短的时间内建造更大的楼房，而且估计他们将不会是唯一这么做的公司。”
“我无意冒犯我的同行。但是以这么快的速度去建造一栋楼，而且只有非常少的视察和测试，我认为这样建造出来的楼房不会百分之一百安全。”
