A very special pop star has held a concert in the Japanese capital, attracting thousands of fans. She sings each and every song without ever missing a beat, and every dance step is picture perfect. But she’s not human.
Hatsune Miku is completely computer-generated and her singing is created with the help of a voice-synthesizing programme. She performed four concerts over a period of two days in Tokyo, and sold 10,000 tickets.
According to her fans, her performance was breathtaking, literally.
Yuya Ofuji, Fan, said, "It was absolutely breathtaking, it’s like my heart is still dancing. I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep."
While Hatsune Miku is best-known in Japan, the concert was also broadcasted to movie theatres in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and has gained her an international following.
Daniel Noll, Fan, said, "What I like about Miku, I think when she came out she gave a lot of people that didn’t have a voice, a voice to express their feelings and thoughts."
Given the success of Miku, there is little doubt that we will be hearing more music from computer generated stars in the future.
