"China believes that the European Union's desire to deal with Europe's debt crisis is sincere and determined. We remain confident in the euro and in Europe's economy. China supports the European Union's strengthening financial discipline. We hope that Europe continues to send clear and positive news."
China's confidence only seems to go so far though it didn't promise to hand over any cash to Europe's bailout fund. Europe's governments are keen to get the likes of China, India and Brazil to help them prop up indebted eurozone countries. Although those emerging nations are poorer than European ones, they've got big piles of cash which they are looking to invest. And Herman Van Rompuy knows it.
"We welcome the positive attitude and engagement, China and Premier Wen himself have taken publicly towards the stability of the eurozone and the European Union. And we also welcome China's readiness to enhance consultation and cooperation on the stability of the eurozone. "中国温家宝总理表示，中国对欧元保持信心。他估计也不能说别的，因为站在他身旁的是来到北京的欧洲理事会主席赫尔曼·范龙佩。

中国的信心好像也就只有这么多，尽管它并没有许诺向欧洲救助基金贡献任何资金。欧洲政府非常希望像中国、印度和巴西这样的国家资助欧元区负债国。尽管这些新兴国家比欧洲的国家穷困，它们却又大笔资金在寻觅投资项目。而赫尔曼·范龙佩是知道这一点的。
