借助热带风暴“李”的助力，在美国得克萨斯州已经持续了一周的森林火灾6日继续肆虐，目前已有两人被困火中身亡，一名妇女及其18个月的女儿。在火灾最严重的奥斯丁东部，大火烧毁了500余处住宅和2.5万英亩(约100万亩)土地。
消防人员正在大风中和大火奋力搏斗，但目前为止整个得州仍面临着山火威胁。州长佩里取消了6日在加州的竞选演讲，紧急赶回得州指挥灭火，并宣布得州全境进入灾害紧急状态。
大火从8月30日下午在得州一个度假胜地附近开始，此后，火势迅速扩散到至少17个县，几万户居民被迫撤离。
“灭火过程将持续一段时间。”佩里称，自去年11月以来，炎热干燥的天气和百年一遇的干旱导致了山火蔓延。目前，德州已有350万英亩(约1.4亿亩)土地被山火烧毁，面积几乎是一个康涅狄格州的大小。
