Anti-government forces now control Zawiya. The forces loyal to Moammar Gadhafi have surrounded the Libyan city. The city of 200,000 is just 30 miles from the capital Tripoli.
Republican officials say former House Speaker Newt Gingrich intends to take a formal step in the next two weeks toward a run for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. He would be the first of many potential contenders who make the move to challenge President Barack Obama.
A couple rescued four days after their SUV slid off a secluded forest road say they spent their time playing cribbage, melting snow for water, and running the engine just a few minutes at a time to stay warm and save gas. John and Patricia Norvell, of Vancouver, Wash., were rescued when a group of campers spotted their snow-covered Jeep Cherokee.
Shakira was honored by Harvard University for her artistic and humanitarian work. She later said some states' proposed anti-immigrant legislation goes against her foundation's efforts to provide education to poor people around the world.

人民日报消息：2月28日，利比亚局势动荡进入第十三天。阿拉伯媒体的报道称，忠实于卡扎菲的军队，准备向位于首都西部的扎维耶城发动“全面进攻”以驱散游行者。在米斯拉塔附近，示威游行者成功迫降一架军用直升机，并俘虏了机上5名士兵。
利比亚东部地区刚成立的“过渡政府”领导人阿卜杜·贾米勒当天向新闻界宣布：“我们没有与美国进行过任何形式的联系，更反对来自美国和其它外国的军事介入和军事干涉”。中东媒体认为，这一讲话不啻是对美国试图军事干预利比亚的“当头棒喝”。
