实用英语：明天有果酱 jam tomorrow
英国作家卡罗尔(L.Carroll)的小说《爱丽斯漫游奇境记》之续集《穿过镜子》(Through theLooking-glass)，爱丽斯到White Queen那里打工，工资是1天两便士，还有一份jam，属于奖金。不过这jam的规矩是这么定的：
The rule is, jam tomorrow and jam yesterday—but never jam today.
规则是，明天有果酱，昨天有果酱，但今天永远不会有果酱。(意即：永远也不会有)
现在，人们常常用jam tomorrow这条习语比喻“许诺但不兑现的东西;可望而不可及的事物”。例如：
To get promoted by the end of the year is only jam tomorrow for him.
年底升职对他来说只不过是兑现不了的许诺。
