奥巴马白宫接见贝克汉姆与队友 调侃其年纪大有副业
It was supposed to be a thank you for winning the Major League Soccer Championship. But David Beckham’s trip to the White House turned into an unexpected comedy roast - at the hands of Barack Obama.拿到美国足球大联盟冠军，按照惯例，总会有许多客套的答谢话要说。但大卫·贝克汉姆的白宫之行演变成了一场意料之外的喜剧调侃，这出自总统奥巴马之手。
The U.S. President mocked Mr Beckham for being over the hill and said that at the age 37 ‘half his teammates could be his kids.'奥巴马调侃贝克汉姆已经年纪大了，表示对于他37岁的年纪来说，“他一半的队友都可以做他的孩子了。”
He also teased the soccer star as a ‘young up and comer’ before joking about his other career as a model.奥巴马还调侃贝克汉姆称其为一个“年轻的后起之秀”，之后又拿贝克汉姆的另一个职业“模特”来开玩笑。
To laughter from the crowd Mr Obama said: ‘He is tough. It is rare a man can be that tough on the field and also have his own line of underwear’.奥巴马说：“贝克汉姆是个硬汉。一个男人既能够驰骋于体育场，同时又有着自己的内衣生产线，这是非常少见的。”奥巴马的话引来了全场的哄堂大笑。
Mr Beckham and his team the LA Galaxy were shown around the White House to congratulate them for winning the Major League Soccer Championship last season.贝克汉姆和他洛杉矶银河队的队友们被邀请参观白宫，以庆祝他们获得了上个赛季美国足球大联盟的冠军。
But before doing so he gave a speech in which he said: ‘We have young up and comer on the team, a guy named David Beckham.但在此之前，奥巴马发表了演讲，在演讲中他说：“银河队中有一位年轻的后起之秀，一个叫大卫·贝克汉姆的小伙子。”
