英文金曲:When you say nothing...《尽在不言中》

When you say nothing at all by Alison Krauss
It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart
          Without saying a word
You can light up the dark
Try as I may I could never explain
What I hear when you don't say a thing
          The smile on your face
Lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes
          Saying you'll never leave me
A touch of your hand says
You'll catch me wherever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all
All day long I can hear people talking aloud
But when you hold me near
          You drown out the crowd
Old Mr. Webster could never define
What's been said between your heart and mine
          The smile on your face
Lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes
          Saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says
You'll catch me wherever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all
          The smile on your face
Lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes
          Saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says
You'll catch me wherever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all
          Words & Phrases
          1. light up:照亮,如:Firework lit up the sky with their explosions of red and
gold. (红色和金黄色的焰火照亮了天空。)
light up 也可以指“让人的脸部放光彩,容光焕发”,如:A rare smile lit up his stern features.
(他那难得一见的微笑给他死板的脸平添了一些生气。)
          2. drown out: 淹没;(声音等)盖过;压倒。
          在歌中,“you drown out the crowd”可意译为“所有尘嚣即离我们远去”。
          3. old Mr. Webster:相信大家都听过大名鼎鼎的“韦氏字典”(美国人自己出的字典,在权威性方面相当于中国的新华字典)。
          笔者估计这里“Mr. Webster”的作用相当于“Mr. Know-all”,当然“old Mr. Webster”会更亲切。
