The Chinese president has arrived in South Africa for a state visit in order to promote bilateral ties and to attend a summit of the BRICS countries. President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan were warmly greeted by South African Foreign Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane at the O-R Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.
In a written statement on his arrival, President Xi says consolidating and growing China-South Africa relations is not only in the interests of the two peoples, but also conducive to the solidarity and cooperation among the developing countries, and to the world peace and development.
