开心时刻：Pain transference
Pain transference 痛苦转移A married couple went to the hospital together to have their baby
delivered. Upon their arrival, the doctor said he had invented a new machine
that would transfer a portion of the mother's labour pain to the father. He
asked if they were willing to try it out. They were both very much in favour of
it.
一对夫妇去医院生孩子。医生说他们新发明了一种机器，能够把母亲生产过程中的一部分疼痛转给父亲，问他们是否愿意尝试。夫妻二人都很愿意。
The doctor set the knob to 10 percent for starters, explaining that even 10
percent was probably more pain than the father had ever experienced before. But
as the labour progressed, the husband felt fine, so he asked the doctor to go
ahead and bump it up a notch. The doctor then adjusted the machine to 20 percent
pain transfer. The husband was still feeling fine.
医生把旋钮转到百分之十，并解释说百分之十已经让父亲感到非常难受了。但是随着接生的继续，丈夫没什么感觉，因此让医生提升一个等级。医生调到百分之二十，丈夫依然没有感觉。
The doctor checked the husband's blood pressure and pulse and was amazed at
how well he was doing. At this, they decided to try for 50 percent. The husband
continued to feel quite well. Since it was obviously helping out his wife
considerably, he encouraged the doctor to transfer ALL the pain to him.
医生检查了丈夫的血压和脉搏，惊讶地发现一切正常。医生又调到百分之五十，丈夫依然感觉良好。既然能让妻子不痛苦，他索性让医生把所有的疼痛都转移给他。
The wife delivered a healthy baby with virtually no pain. She and her
husband were ecstatic. When they got home, the mailman was dead on their
porch.
在基本上没有痛苦的情况下，妻子生下了一个健康的宝宝，二人欣喜若狂。当他们到家的时候，发现邮递员死在门廊中了。
